San Diego Separation Lawyer

Sometimes the Solution is a Separation Agreement

When a couple decides to end their marriage, it does not necessarily mean they must get divorced. A trial separation or an extended separation is also an option available to the spouses. In both cases it is imperative for a family law attorney to negotiate and draft what is known as a “Separation Agreement”, or “Marital Settlement Agreement.” The agreement must be drafted correctly to address all contingencies and avoid complications in the event the parties subsequently decide to complete their divorce. The family law attorney’s at Fischer & Van Thiel are very knowledgeable and experienced in drafting these types of agreements and can be of great assistance when negotiating a fair and equitable agreement of the relevant issues.
